Tournament Dates

This event will be a weekend graded event run on Saturday the 29th and Sunday 30th April 2023.

Tournament Categories

A Grade (8 places) – Players in a county Premier or 1st Division League Team (Squash Levels: 4800 - 9999)

B Grade (16 places) – Players in a County League 2nd or 3rd Division League Team (Squash Levels: 2500-4799)

C Grade (16 places) – Players in a County League 4th or 5th or Lower Division League Team (Squash Levels: 1200-2499)

D Grade (16 places) – Non-Team Players who play recreationally or in a Club internal League (Squash Levels: 300-1199)

E Grade (8 places) – Players who are beginners and are fairly new to the game (Squash Levels: 0-299)

Tournament Format & Entry Fees

• Trophies will be awarded to all grade and plate winners and finalists.

• Entry fee is £50.00 and is payable by either bank transfer or online via credit/debit card. Please note that entry fees must be paid in advance in order to secure your place in the category that you have entered.

• Entry Fee includes The Praha Classic 2023 tournament t-shirt.

• All players are guaranteed a minimum of three matches as the event will be run using a monrad format over the 2 days.

• All matches will be Best of 5, PAR 11 Scoring (2 clear at 10-10)

• All matches results will be logged onto League Master and imported into Squash Levels

Proposed itinerary

Day One - Friday 28th April 2023

• Players arrive in Prague, tournament introduction and a session of fun doubles in the evening followed by dinner and drinks (nothing too crazy!!).

Day Two - Saturday 29th April 2023

• 10am to 7pm - Tournament starts with Rounds One and Two of the A to E Grades taking place (Monrad Format for all grades). Everyone will have two matches on the Saturday. This is followed by dinner at the club and a night out in Prague.

Day Three - Sunday 30th April 2023

• 10am to 6pm - Tournament Round Three and Finals for all grades, followed by closing prize ceremony, dinner and drinks.

Day Four - Monday 1st May 2023

• Players fly back home (probably hungover & questioning their life choices...). For UK players, this day is a bank holiday.


Accomodation

The following hotels below have been recommended and all are close to the city centre.

1) Luxury Family Hotel Bílá Labuť

Luxury Family Hotel Bila Labut is located in the centre of Prague, a 10-minute walk away from the Old Town Square, Municipal house, Wenceslas Square, Palladium shopping mall and Na Prikope shopping street. The hotel offers rooms with minibars, free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and work desks. Hotel reception is opened 24 hours daily. The Luxury Family Hotel Bílá Labuť is part of Bílá Labuť shopping mall where you can use the modern fitness club.

2) Hotel Otakar

Occupying an elegant Art Nouveau building, Hotel Otakar is only a 10-minute tram ride from Wenceslas Square and a 15-minute walk from the Congress Centre Prague. The Otakarova tram stop is right outside, and free WiFi is available. The Old Town Square can be reached within a 25-minute tram ride. Hotel Otakar features a lobby bar and a 24-hour reception. Hotel offers a breakfast included in all room rates. The rooms have a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a bathroom with shower. This accommodation also features a wellness center equipped with a spa bath and sauna.

3) Hotel U Kříže

Set in a completely refurbished building dating from the 16th century, Hotel U Kříže is located in the very centre of Prague, the Lesser Town, 450 yards from the Charles Bridge. It offers a breakfast buffet and the reception is open for 24 hours. All rooms provide free WiFi, air conditioning, satellite TV and a bathroom. Some of the spacious suites also have a bath tub. Guests can enjoy Czech and Italian cuisine in the U Kříže’s restaurant, or they can have a drink in a bar

4) My Hotel Apollon

The renovated, stylish My Hotel Apollon in Prague's Zizkov district is a 15-minute tram ride from the centre. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free W-Fi and plasma TVs. The rooms are spacious and some of them even feature a balcony. A rich buffet breakfast is available in the morning. The property can arrange garage parking located 250 yards from the property for a surcharge and upon request. Paid public parking is also available. Close-by there is the green Vitkov Hill, which is one of Prague's largest parks. The Vozovna Zizkov stop for day and night trams is located right opposite the My Hotel Apollon.
